Atlanta’s Leading LGBTQ+ Intensive Outpatient Program

At Riverwoods Behavioral Health in Riverdale, Georgia, we strive to offer world-class behavioral health programming that sets the standard for excellence in the treatment of mental health and addiction concerns. Our adult evening intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides the ideal setting for members of the LGBTQ+ community to begin their healing journeys.

About Our LGBTQ+ Intensive Outpatient Program in Riverdale

The LGBTQ+ evening intensive outpatient program specifically caters to adults age 18 and older who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Our compassionate team recognizes that LGBTQ+ people benefit from having an all-inclusive, nonjudgmental, nonthreatening place where they can process their experiences with other individuals who understand the unique circumstances they are navigating in their lives each day.

The services we offer in our Georgia IOP are appropriate for people of all genders who are struggling with mental health concerns like depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. By offering programming that is designed to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ people, our team is also able to provide support and guidance as patients confront stressors as they relate to sexual orientation, gender identity, and coming out to their family and friends.

The LGBTQ+ evening IOP at our facility in Riverdale, Georgia, features services for people who do not need round-the-clock supervision but can benefit from highly structured care that is offered on a more frequent basis than traditional outpatient treatment. By participating in our evening IOP, patients have the ability to participate in their regular daily activities before programming, and they return home each night after programming. This can help eliminate the stress of having to rearrange schedules while still ensuring that a person gets the care they need.

What To Expect in Our LGBTQ+ Evening IOP

The main purpose of our LGBTQ+ evening IOP is to create a safe place where patients can work through their experiences, develop coping skills they can use in their daily lives, and receive the support necessary to help them heal.

The main method of treatment we use in our LGBTQ+ evening intensive outpatient program is group therapy. Qualified and experienced professionals run the group therapy sessions, which are held three times each week. While in group therapy, patients have the opportunity to discuss a number of different topics, like triggers, coping skills, healthy boundaries, relationships, and self-esteem. By participating in group therapy sessions, patients also have the chance to meet with other individuals who may have had similar experiences or may be facing similar challenges. The encouragement they receive as they build this support network can be instrumental in their healing process.

A number of different professionals make up the treatment teams at Riverwoods, including licensed professional counselors, licensed associate professional counselors, social workers, psychiatrists, and nurses. All the staff members at our Riverdale facility are dedicated to meeting the needs of the people they serve.

Everyone on the Riverwoods team remains up to date on current best practices and has experience in implementing evidence-based treatments to ensure that our patients receive the utmost in clinically excellent care. By offering patients an array of therapies and giving them individualized treatment plans, our team is able to meet their needs in a way that will be of the most benefit to them.

The LGBTQ+ IOP typically lasts 28 days, but the actual amount of time patients are in treatment depends on the progress they make while in our care.

How To Start
